Remember when you prayed or merely wished for what you have now?

How often do you take a minute to say thank you for that?

As humans, once we receive what we’ve been asking for, we tend to move on from one thing to the next so quick that we barely take time to thank God and the universe for giving it to us.

We take things for granted and even feel entitled to living and receiving.

Last Sunday but one I got to church late but right on time for testimonies. One of the lead pastors was testifying and giving thanks for bicycles he had just gotten miraculously for himself, his wife, and the kids.

Being human, at the back of my mind I was like “aiya, kumbe hata baiskeli is something to be thankful for?”

I know I am not the only one who might have felt the same way.

In that moment though, was the greatest lesson. Gratitude even for the smallest of things goes a long way.

At that moment, I challenged myself to learn and give thanks for anything and everything, be it the people in my life, be it a cup of water, be it the little change in my pocket, be it the food on my table, the roof above my head, or even big things like the peaceful elections we just held.

I tell you what? It has been a game changer for me!

Gratitude attracts great things.

Choosing to need nothing but give thanks for everything attracts abundance.

I challenge you for the remaining part of the month. For a change, stop asking for anything. In stead, write down something you are grateful for each day.

As a full-time academic writer,I basically work from home, right?

So recently as I was busy working someone came knocking at the main gate coz they were house hunting or something..

The gate wasn’t locked but there was a padlock dangling just there so if you take a look from outside,it can be easy for you to have the impression that it’s locked,,y’all get the picture?

Well this fella was knocking so hard and for me on the other side I was really engrossed at my work that his/her knocking was just so uncalled for at that moment.

On my side, I knew very well that I was the last person who had passed that gate and that I hadn’t locked it.

I knew this person hadn’t even bothered to confirm if it was actually locked or was just so lazy to do it.

I remember the irritated me thinking, “na si huyo atumie tu hio nguvu anabisha nayo kuingisha tu mkono anotice haijalockiwa”..

Got me thinking though; how many people would have done the same?

In this concept, I am talking about both the actual and the literal doors in life..

How many times have we stood on our own way?

How many doors have we knocked and stood for ages waiting for them to be opened while it was open the entire time?

How many times have we asked for what was right in front of us? That all you had to do was take it?

Get out of your way today and enter your own greatness,

Let’s talk back fat!

Hey did I hear someone click at the mention of the words back fat?

Aha, you are not alone my dear, there is a whole gang behind you that could back up your resentments in volumes!

I have been ‘chubby’ for the best part of my life so far so believe me when I say, I have been stung by that wasp too! I mean, my brother once mistook the lump of back fat I once had for a swelling, *sighs*. I felt body shamed but then it served as the wake up call I so needed too.

I call them reverse boobs, some call them bra bulge, but I think with its potential to ruin a perfectly nice outfit, we can agree to call it a NUISANCE!

So, what exactly causes back fat?

To answer that, it is important to note that back fact develops way deep into the back where a system of four intertwined muscles lays. These muscles have minute spaces beneath and around them.

During our childhood ages, these muscles tend to be well-built and thick. Sadly, we begin to fill fat in these tiny spaces intentionally such as by eating poor diets or unintentionally such as by posing poorly which accumulates alarmingly over time.

Notably, as time goes by the fat enlarges and age takes a toll on our bodies. Consequently, the muscles begin to grow thinner and gravity pulls the muscles together with the lumps of fat around it down.

As if that is not enough, most women lack knowledge on their accurate bra sizes and ends up putting on ill-fitting bra. This right here my darlings, is the ultimate highlight of your reverse boobs.An ill-fitting bra makes the extra tissues pop some more!

Upon waking up, we all have our personal preferred times of making our beds, or maybe not. But did you know that the time you choose to make your bed could be affecting your whole energy and motivation in life?

Well it does!

Typically, some individuals choose to make their beds right after waking up, before freshening up and then proceed to begin their days. Some opt to wake, relax a bit in the bed, check their phones, and eventually wake up to use the bathroom first or do anything else in that matter then come back to the bed making. Whereas some wake up and go about their day not minding to do their bed at all. I mean after all, they will be back to the same bed anyways.

Turns out, the morning battles does not end at the snooze button. Choosing not to do your bed right upon waking up could be the reason you are going through your day feeling all lazy, unmotivated, and groggy.

If you thought making your bed upon waking up was so not much of a big deal then guess what, it does not end there.

Technically, an average human being spends around 30% of their life in the bedroom. That’s a huge part of our lives so yes, it definitely impacts our habits!

So i know at this point the big question is what does one’s bed making timing routines has to do with laziness and lack of motivation, right?

For starters, the first person who chooses to wake up right at the first snooze button, and i mean the first, and not the second, and does their bed immediately, freshens up, and goes about their day without getting back to their beds until later in the night cultivates a personal culture of coherent and easy problem-solving skills. Such kind of people have the capabilities of taking an issue and solve it one step at a time in a clean manner.

On the other hand, the other person who chooses to wake up, take their time, hit the bathroom and later come back to make their beds nurtures procrastination habit. The pattern of procrastinating later transmits itself in the daily life of the person be it in their school, work, and tasks faced in life.

It becomes very easy for second person to wait until it is close enough to the deadline in tasks so that they could just rush through it or just fail to complete anything in life, even the simplest of tasks.

The third example of an individual that wakes up and goes about their day without bothering to make their beds showcases a habit of mere carelessness. These people become so intensely careless that they fail to see the sense in making a bed they would eventually come back to sleep in anyways. The same carelessness will thus be transmitted to their personal relationships and from time time while hanging with friends will just use words carelessly, do whatever they please, submit work at a time of their own convenience. It affects one’s work, friendships, and general life behaviors.

Choosing to do one’s bed might appear as not much of a big deal but it actually is a bigger deal.

Eventually, choosing to or not to do your bed does a number in you. It cultivates your habits, habits that has consequences. Habits defines people.

Make your bed today. Lie in it BETTER!!

Poverty, is it really made in bed?

I’m sure we have all heard the saying that says that poverty is made in bed. I have nothing against that but i am sure we can all agree that there has been numerous multi billion businesses that sprang off in bed and i guess that makes me to rightfully say it isn’t only poverty that could be made in bed.

You could make and grow your multi billion business idea right from your bed too! I mean, i am here writing this blog from the comfort of my bed and yes this is a manifestation that it will grow into a multi billion business!

In the contemporary world where technology has simplified everything, all you could need to get into that venture you dig so hard is just your germ of an idea and just your smartphone or your laptop. With the above at hand, you could really launch any idea from the sheer comfort of your bed.

For instance, let’s take a look at Elsa Majimbo’s story who straight up went from being an anonymous teenager in Nairobi to a social media comedy star who has been able to amass 2.5 million followers on Instagram in a short period of two years just by eating crisps chips from her bed and hilariously gassing her fans to party to the extremes of calling in fraud incidences in their bank accounts and bursting into maniac laughter.

Baby Feeding Bottles or Baby Killing Bottles?

In the contemporary life where the working class women might require to go back to work shortly after giving birth, baby bottles have come in handy for lactating mothers looking to resume work. However, a speech made by Ms Esther Mogusu at the pioneering National Maternal, Infant and Young Child Nutrition Symposium that was coordinated by the Ministry of Health (MOH) on Wednesday indicates that the baby feeding bottles that we view as the portable and not so expensive life savers are not saving lives after all. Ms Mogusu is the Principal Nutrition and Dietetics officer at NMS

She states that part of the new regulations will require the companies that manufacturers baby food to package baby feeding equipment alongside their baby formulas and complimentary feeds. My opinion? such a necessary move that one!

Why Baby Bottles are Killer Bottles

Apparently, baby feeding bottles brings harm to our cubs rather than good. The sprouts of these bottles are made up of silicon which are entire different material from the natural breast which can trigger the baby to refuse breastfeeding prematurely.

Additionally, as the baby struggle to suck the milk through the sprouts the inner part of the ear is pressured leading to recurrent inflammation of the ear.

The babies struggle to suck the milk which at times involves biting of the bottle that releases sugar from the milk. These sugars triggers dental carriers and even worse lead to misalignment of the jaw area.

Moreover, the tip area of baby bottles can be hard to clean well which can be habitats to harmful bacteria and disease-causing pathogens that causes the baby to contract infections or diarrhea.

A large portion of our infants are are a high risk due to baby bottles today. On the other hand, breast feeding is the perfect way to raise a baby. Breast feeding facilitates healthy growth and protects our young ones from diarrhea, infections, jaw dislocations, ear inflammation, and slow deaths.

Despite our crazy schedule and bills to pay today, can we strive to breast feed our infants for at least the first three months? There are unavoidable situations such as cases where the mother dies during birth however. It brings me back to the requirement of the MOH to mandate all the baby formula manufacturers to provide baby feeding equipment. This requirement is worth giving a shot.
